So it turns out that Zayn has some pretty strong feelings towards The Recording Academy. And just five days or so from the 63rd annual Grammy Awards, he’s decided to tell us what he really thinks.

The singer took to Twitter to express his annoyance at the supposed voting process for Grammy nominations, saying, “Fuck the grammys and everyone associated. Unless you shake hands and send gifts, there’s no nomination considerations. Next year I’ll send you a basket of confectionary.”

According to Billboard, for each category that is reviewed, nomination review committees are presented with an alphabetical list of its top vote-getters by rank-and-file voters.

After listening and discussing, they then cast their votes. And voila! You have the Grammys.

Further to the case, Zayn has repeatedly missed out on being eligible for Grammy Award nominations over the recent years, as per its eligibility period, which for the 2021 Grammys began on September 1st, 2019 and ended on August 31st 2020.

Zayn’s third studio album, Nobody Is Listening, wasn’t able to receive any Grammy nominations as it was released on January 15th, 2021. The same goes for its debut single from the album, ‘Better’, as that was released on September 25th, 2020.

Zayn’s closest call to have claimed winning a Grammy came at the hands of his track with Taylor Swift, ‘I Don’t Wanna Live Forever’. The pair had collaborated on the song for the film, Fifty Shades Darker. They’d received a Grammy nomination for it back in 2018, however, even if the song won in its category, it would have technically belonged to its songwriters, Jack Antonoff and Sam Dew.

While One Direction have also never been nominated for a Grammy Award, former One Direction band member, Harry Styles is doing pretty well for himself at the Grammys, particularly this year as he’s up for an award in three categories.
