In a better slice of 2020 news, Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid are officially parents, with the One Direction star sharing the news on Twitter.

The couple welcomed their first child together after dating on and off since 2015. “Our baby girl is here, healthy & beautiful,” Zayn Malik tweeted to his 29.4 million followers.

“To try put into words how i am feeling right now would be an impossible task. The love i feel for this tiny human is beyond my understanding. Grateful to know her, proud to call her mine, & thankful for the life we will have together x,” he continued.

Rumours started to swirl that the 25-year-old model was in labour last week, sending social media into meltdown. It started when her father, Mohamed Hadid, posted a since-deleted handwritten note to Instagram saying “hello” to his grandchild.

“Hello little grandchild, it is me, my heart as happy as can be,” the letter said. “I wish for you the sun and the moon, I wish for you a happy time. Know that Grandpa’s always near, I’d do anything, anything for you, my dear.

Hadid first announced her pregnancy to her fans back in April while chatting to Jimmy Fallon on his late night talk show. Since then, the couple have been isolating safely together at Hadid’s family’s Pennsylvania farm.

In the intervening time, Hadid had been sharing stunning maternity photos documenting her journey. At first, she said during an Instagram Live that she was hesitant to share her pregnancy journey due to bigger problems in the world regarding the coronavirus pandemic and Black Lives Matter rallies.

“I have been taking a lot of pictures of my bump and sending them to my friends and family, and it’s been really cute and exciting. I have been trying to document it because people are saying don’t miss it,” she said.

The child’s name has not yet been revealed. Let’s face it though: with the unbelievable genes like this baby girl has, any name will really do!
