From the baroque-pop stylings and illustrious storylines of A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out to the at times damn-near ridiculous vocal runs on Death Of A Bachelor, Panic! have never been a band to keep things safe.
Taking to the stage of Ellen, the band kept up this reputation, performing a rousing rendition of the track ‘Say Amen (Saturday Night)’. Following the narrative of the music video, Brendon made use of Ellen’s famous interview stage buzzing around with a hyperactive fervour, even taking the opportunity to get into the music video character a little too intensely by breaking a bottle over a camera man’s head (it’s all for show, of course).
Fit out with a proper brass section, the chorus hook culminated in a rambunctious wall of sound that carried Brendon’s faultless vocals. He even flattered Ellen with the gift of a rose during the performance and as usual, topped off the performance with a classic backflip – does he EVER get tired?
