Machine Gun Kelly has been embracing the pop punk side of himself in a big way, and now the singer-songwriter has tapped Halsey for a new track, which also features regular collaborator Travis Barker.
The track is titled ‘forget me too’ and dropped into our ears on Friday as Machine Gun Kelly released his new album Tickets To My Downfall.
The record also has previously released tracks ‘Concert For Aliens‘ and ‘Bloody Valentine’, the latter of which has become a favourite for alt radio (especially in the States).
Now Machine Gun Kelly drops ‘forget me too’, another track with affected vocals, rip-roaring guitar, and blink-182’s Barker effortlessly drumming at all sorts of speeds.
Then Halsey – the goddess she is – comes in and matches her perfect vocals to the track in a way only she could.
MGK explained how the collab with Halsey came about when he and Barker recently spoke to Zane Lowe for Apple Music.
“It took her five minutes to write that verse, I could tell you that much,” he said.
“She was in it. That was the quickest feature session I’ve ever had in my life.”
Fans have already pointed out that the early 2000s pop punk vibes on this one definitely have that vibe, not dissimilar to decades-old blink.
Halsey congratulated Machine Gun Kelly on the release with a kind note on her Instagram.

“I know it may seem impossible that we haven’t already done a song together, because we have been friends since the dawn of time. Believe me. It’s crazy even to us that it took so long to do it,” she wrote.
“But now you have a whole entire album full of songs that reinforce what we already know. YOU’RE PUNK AS FUCK, KID!!!!!!! Congrats!”

Tickets to My Downfall featuring the song “Forget Me Too” is out now! The day has finally arrived that @machinegunkelly and I have a song together. I know it may seem impossible that we haven’t already done a song together, because we have been friends since the dawn of time. Believe me. It’s crazy even to us that it took so long to do it. Just seems like it’s a meant to be type of thing. And now it is. Here. And fucking SICK. I’m so proud of your reinvention Colson. You’ve always been a rockstar in everything you’ve done whether it’s acting, modeling, being an amazing father, or exploring other genres. But now you have a whole entire album full of songs that reinforce what we already know. YOU’RE PUNK AS FUCK, KID!!!!!!! Congrats!
Machine Gun Kelly is holding a virtual concert on Thursday, October 1st, to celebrate the release of Tickets To My Downfall, and is taking over the Roxy in Hollywood.
