Lizzo has wonderfully continued her body positivity conquest by posting an unedited nude photo on her social media.
The ‘Juice’ singer is one of Dove’s ambassador’s for their Self-Esteem Project and she done it proud with her unedited nude selfie which she bravely posted on Instagram for her 10.3 million followers to see on Tuesday.
“WELCOME TO TAURUS SEASON,” she started her post. “To celebrate I wanna give y’all this unedited selfie.. now normally I would fix my belly and smooth my skin but baby I wanted show u how I do it au natural — I am excited to be partnering with @dove and the #DoveSelfEsteemProject which is helping to reverse the negative effects of social media and changing the conversation about beauty standards. Let’s get real y’all.”
The post swiftly received love from several famous names, including Grimes and SZA, who said “It’s you having no blemishes at ALL lol .. sigh I jus admire u Fren😢 I wanna drop the FaceTime pics.”
Lizzo has been a vital figurehead for the body positivity movement for a long time now. Only recently, she called the movement out for being ‘co-opted by all bodies’. And she puts other celebrities like Khloe Kardashian – who attempted a major cover-up after an unedited photo of her was posted online recently – to shame with her fearlessness.
After posting the pic, Lizzo then spoke with Dove about her journey to accepting herself for who she is, as per Complex. “As most people know I did an interview about What’s Underneath Project years ago and I took off all my clothes,” she revealed.
“I took my wig off and talked about the things I loved about myself. I was like, if anybody wants to see how I really look, all they got to do is go to YouTube… From then on, I was like, I have nothing to hide. There’s no shame anymore. I just post myself. It’s like, you take me as I am. You don’t have to love me.”
