Guitarist and vocalist Tim Landers of modern pop punk luminaries Transit has passed away overnight, with the band confirming the devastating news in a tweet.

Landers was a prolific musician who played in Transit, Misser and Cold Collective during his time. Landers’ passing was again confirmed on Cold Collective’s Facebook page, noting that the musician’s death was sudden.

“The news has already been circulating, and unfortunately we are here to confirm what is being said. Our vocalist Tim Landers passed away suddenly, February 2, 2019. At this time we please ask for your respect and understanding in this time of grieving. We will comment further when we find the words.”

Transit’s imprint on pop punk has reverberated intensely since their breakup in 2014 – the band’s legacy is one of total triumph in the genre. Following the news of his passing, musicians have paid their respects to Landers in a slew of social media posts.

“Rest in peace Tim Landers. We never got the chance to meet Tim but his art in the form of Transit and Misser will always have a special place in the hearts of us and many others,” tweeted Neck Deep.

“Tried to play tonight with the joy you always played with. From the 1st one together at that apartment in Brooklyn up through the solo sets we did together in CA a few years back. Always immersed in the joy of making music for people. Sleep well, Timmy. We’re all gonna miss you,” said Dan Campbell of the Wonder Years.

Our thoughts are with those closest to Landers at this time. RIP.
