Miley Cyrus and Dua Lipa have released an intoxicating video for their highly-anticipated collaboration ‘Prisoner’.

The two pop superstars have made a fiery alliance for the track, the second single from Cyrus’ new album Plastic Hearts, due on November 27th.

According to Entertainment Weekly, ‘Prisoner’ was released yesterday, November 19th, accompanied by a music video directed by Cyrus alongside Alana O’Herlihy.

The gritty club banger has the clip to match. It’s raunchy and weird and has to be seen to be believed. The video is a disorientating and bamboozling fever dream, the visuals appearing to emanate from inside Cyrus’ own mouth.

The duo embark on a tour bus for a sultry and raucous road adventure. There’s also a lot of red. Like a lot. Cyrus pours a whole jar of cherries down her face, making it look like she’s been doused in blood. This becomes an invitation for Lipa to start grinding and licking Cyrus (we miss being able to do this to friends or strangers pre-COVID-19).

After the tour bus shenanigans, they whizz through a party and end up at a concert. All in all, they party like proper 80’s hellraisers (only right when you pull off a mullet as well as Cyrus has done recently). The video ends with a loving message from Cyrus and Lipa: “In loving memory of all my exes, eat s—.” Who needs subtlety these days?

The lyrics of the song include the lines “Can’t get you off my mind, off my mind”, “I’ll never escape it, I need the high” and “I gotta know, why can’t you, why can’t you just let me go?”.

Lipa is currently in a relationship with Anwar Hadid (the younger brother of Gigi Hadid) so there’s speculation that the song may be a dig at Cyrus’ former partners. That’s bad news for Aussie blokes Liam Hemsworth and Cody Simpson.
