Everyone’s favourite pop-punk dad, Mark Hoppus, has launched a new podcast, After School Radio.

There aren’t many people that can claim to have been at the forefront of alternative music for three decades. Hoppus has kept his finger on the cultural pulse as a founding member in blink-182, +44 and Simple Creatures.

The radio show will see Hoppus explore “the songs, artists, and culture that’ve defined the movement, with the sense of humor and perspective that have become his trademark.”

After School Radio will air on Apple Music’s newly launched Apple Music Hits station. Other artists set to host show include Alanis Morissette, The Backstreet Boys, Ciara, Snoop Dogg, Meghan Trainor and Shania Twain.

The first two episodes of After School Radio are out now for your listening pleasure. Episode one sees Hoppus interview his Simple Creatures counterpart, All Time Low frontman Alex Gaskarth. While episode 2 sees him chew the fat with Tyson Ritter of The All-American rejects and Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast. You can check it out here.

In other news, Jimmy Eat World vocalist Jim Adkins recently launched a new podcast. The first episode featured an interview with none other than Hoppus. You either die a pop-punk trailblazer or live long enough to see yourself become a podcaster.

The episode saw the two musicians “chop it up about the early days of making albums, collaboration in ‘these times’ and no matter how harsh your inner critic is there’s someone who has you beat on Twitter.”

The pair spoke inspiration and who they learnt from, their respective creative processes, and the obstacles they’ve overcome and lessons they’ve learned from the ’90s until now.
