It might not come as a surprise, but fans are still losing their minds at a line in a Machine Gun Kelly song that hints at some love for MCR.

The American rapper released a deluxe edition of his new album Tickets to My Downfall just days after the original record’s release.

Produced by Travis Barker, the record is packed with previous singles. VMA-winning ‘Bloody Valentine’, Blackbear collaboration ‘My Ex’s Best Friend’, and ‘Concert for Aliens‘ all feature. The likes of Trippie Redd and Halsey also lend their considerable musical chops to proceedings.

According to Kerrang, the deluxe version added even more. It was packed with bangers, to say the least, including a massive collaboration between YUNGBLUD and The Used’s Bert McCracken.

MGK has never been one to hide his musical influences, certainly not on this new record. ‘Body Bag’ sampled pop-punk titans Fall Out Boy while ‘All I Know’ referenced Operation Ivy.

Now attention has shifted towards another bonus track, ‘Hangover Cure’. Fans have quickly noticed what seems to be a lyrical ode to My Chemical Romance’s classic third album, The Black Parade.

Ever since you walked away, I can’t wait to taste your breath,’ MGK sings on the song, ‘Sunset on my black parade, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.’

Fans were quick to hit social media with their theories, with numerous tweets raising attention to the hangover cure line. See for yourself.

It’s not that subtle, especially for a well-known My Chemical Romance worshipper! Last year MGK was pictured excitedly hanging from a rafter as ‘Welcome to the Black Parade’ was played at an Emo Nite in Los Angeles.

It’d be nice if Gerard Way et al. get wind of this new reference to their work. And if MCR want to team up with MGK for a collaborative track, we’d be fine with that too.
