If you ask any kid who grew up in the emo scene of the ’00s what the most iconic songs were, there’s a chance they’d say ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’ by My Chemical Romance. How well can you recall the lyrics of the beloved song?

Often instantly recognised by that first G stroke on the piano, ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’ is one of the most cherished songs to come out of the mid 2000s. Honestly, the entire album is an absolute banger, but that one song singles itself out as the true winner.

Beginning back in 2001, My Chemical Romance only took a year to release their debut album, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, bringing their hits ‘Honey, This Mirror Isn’t Big Enough For The Two Of Us’ and ‘Vampires Will Never Hurt You’.

Then, the incredible outfit brought Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge to the table, with equal emo song icons ‘Helena’ and ‘I’m Not Okay (I Promise)’ in their arsenal.

2006 saw them release ‘The Black Parade’ where our dearest MCR song comes from. Featuring 13 songs, plus a hidden track, not only did ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’ score with the charts, but ‘Teenagers’ and ‘Famous Last Words’ also became quire popular.

They went on to produce one more album, Danger Days: The True Lives Of  The Fabulous Killjoys, and then broke up in 2013.

Although My Chemical Romance remained legends of the pop punk scene for 12 years, their breakup was one of the hardest things witnessed in that period of music. Luckily, November of 2019 saw the band reunite, and shortly after, they played their first reunion show.

Sadly, Australia has missed out on seeing their reunion in 2020 due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, but in the mean time, maybe you can remember their lyrics, and hope for the day when they can return to Australian shores.
