Kylie Minogue has collaborated with Dua Lipa on a remix of one of her songs and 2021 is looking good already.
As per Pitchfork, the Australian star tapped Lipa for a reworking of Kylie’s track ‘Real Groove’ as a surprise treat for fans.
It comes after Kylie was a part of Lipa’s Studio 2054 virtual concert last month. That livestream was a huge success, attracting a huge audience of over 5 million worldwide viewers, which is supposed to be a livestream record. Alongside Kylie, Elton John and fellow Lipa collaborator Miley Cyrus also featured.
The new all-star dance-pop team-up seems to have been spurred by the audience delight at their performance together on Studio 2054.
Real Groove was the third single from Kylie’s latest album Disco. The remix increases the speed of the original track and Lipa’s layered vocals compliment Minogue’s sensual delivery well.
2020 was a big year for both stars. Disco brought Kylie some of her best critical reviews in years and was her eight number one album in the U.K.. In doing so, Kylie became the first female artist to earn a number one album in five consecutive decades, an astounding achievement. The album was a number one hit in both the U.K. and ARIA album charts. Disco was praised for seeing Kylie return to the disco sound that worked so well in her previous albums Fever and Aphrodite.
Lipa’s second studio album, Future Nostalgia, was hailed as one of the finest records of the year. The bright and fun pop songs felt like they could have came from Kylie herself and established Lipa as a true heir and one of this generation’s finest popstars. It was nominated for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album at the upcoming Grammy Awards. Future Nostalgia also topped both the U.K. and ARIA album charts, and came fourth in the U.S. Billboard 200.
