Hayley Williams has dropped yet another solo single, with the release of ‘Why We Ever’ coming with its own official lyric video.
It’s the second solo single released by the Paramore frontwoman this month, following ‘Over Yet’, with both tracks coming from the forthcoming second part of debut solo EP Petals For Armor I.
Part one dropped in February, featuring singles ‘Simmer’, ‘Leave It Alone’ and ‘Cinnamon’.
Williams says she wrote ‘Why We Ever’ at the “lowest point I’d been in some time. Now I look back and credit this night as being the beginning of a new season of my life, where I hold myself accountable for learning to love better.
“I’ve let myself down a lot in love. This was the start of recognising bad patterns and acknowledging that I’m ready to grow out of them.”

There’s some great news for fans of Paramore too, with Williams suggesting that a new album from the group isn’t too far off.
Chatting to Colorado radio station RXP 103.9, she reflected on the impact of COVID-19 and her sadness at not being able to tour with Paramore, before teasing something new from the band.
“I’m grieving the possibility of not being able to do that type of tour and maybe having to plan something else but yeah,” she said.
“Eventually, [I want to] play these songs live, hopefully make more music and make another Paramore record and just go to dinner with my friends as much as possible when this is over.”

Hayley Williams has also been using her time in social isolation to put her spin on some old favourites by other artists. Recently she covered ‘Smoke Signals by Phoebe Bridgers and more recently she had a crack at Tegan And Sara’s ‘Call It Off’.
Petals For Amor part two is due out on May 8.
