Although she’s known for singing ‘Misery Business’ and ‘The Only Exception’ in Paramore, this year has seen Hayley Williams branch out on her own to work on her new solo project.
“I’m putting out some music next year,” the singer said last year. “With the help of some of my closest friends, I made something I’m going to call my own. It’s a really special project and you’ll get a taste of it in January.”
With part one of her debut album Petals For Armor dropping back in February, part two is slowly making its way to our ears with the most recent single ‘Over Yet’ debuting today via a music video.
Featuring behind-the-scenes footage of Williams filmed by Lindsey Byrnes, it’s accompanied by the lyrics so we can quickly sing along once again.
As most of us are going through self-isolation, Williams noted recently in an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music that the current state of the world is actually helping to round out her album, giving her the time to finish some songs.
“When I’m home by myself and particularly once we were finished writing ‘After Laughter’, I wrote more songs that were just me picking on my guitar, singing to myself,” she stated.
“I have so many unfinished things in my voice memos, and I’ve been going through those just trying to decide what of those should I maybe honour and finish. I’ve thought about getting an eight track and just doing some stuff to tape for fun. I’ve wanted to do that for years anyway.”
Hayley Williams debut album Petals for Armor is set to release on May 8th, via Atlantic Records.
