Just a couple of weeks ago, Paramore dropped their highly-anticipated fifth album After Laughter. While we were more than happy to get our hands on it and give it a spin, we’re starting to realise just how lucky we are to even have another Paramore record in the first place.

According to Alt Press, Paramore’s Hayley Williams recently opened up in an interview for Behind the Brand with Bryan Elliot, stating that she was keen to quite the band just a couple of years ago.

“Two years ago, I was ready to quit. I had been through a lot personally, and the band had been through a lot. I doubted if I could write a record that I loved as much as our self-titled record,” Williams said. “I just thought, ‘I’ve been stressing this for thirteen years. I’ve been working my ass off for thirteen years, since before I had a car, since before I had anything that was mine, the only thing that was mine was this music.'”

“I really felt like maybe it was time to hang it up and find out what other things I could be good at—whether that’s starting a family or doing hair dye or whatever it was—but my dad always said that if you’re not happy, ‘hang it up.’ But I have been unhappy, and I didn’t hang it up, and I’m so glad that I didn’t.”

Thankfully Hayley didn’t call it quits, or else we wouldn’t have had the amazing After Laughter that they released. Here’s hoping Paramore will be making their way to Australia once again very soon so that we can truly show our appreciation to Williams for sticking with the band.
