Halsey has thanked fans for their love after updating their social media bio to acknowledge their use of she/they pronouns.

The musician changed their Twitter and Instagram bio lines with ‘she/they’, inciting a flood of supportive messages from fans, thanking Halsey for encouraging them to share their own identities.

“I hope Halsey…gives others the confidence to express what also makes them feel comfortable. It’s okay to not fit into the categories society puts you in,” one Twitter user wrote, with another writing, “Halsey changed their pronouns to she/they and I’m so happy for her – she’s such a source of inspiration and such a beautiful human and I love them so muchhhh.”

Halsey took to Instagram to share a post to stories, writing “Thank u” with a heart emoji.

The ‘Without Me’ singer previously delved into her experience with gender identity in an Instagram post last month, that saw the musician divulge that pregnancy has illuminated new feelings towards their gender identity.

“I’ve been thinking lots about my body,” Halsey wrote. “It’s strange to watch yourself change so quickly. I thought pregnancy would give me very strong, binary feelings about ‘womanhood’ but truly it has leveled my perception of gender entirely. My sensitivity to my body has made me hyper aware of my humanness and that’s all. Doing a remarkable thing. And it’s grand. I hope the feeling lasts.”
