My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way has shared the latest poster for Netflix series The Umbrella Academy, the show based on his graphic novels of the same name.
The series tells the story of 43 infants who were inexplicably born in 1989 to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Seven of them were adopted by a billionaire who created ‘The Umbrella Academy’ and prepared his “children” to save the world.
Season 2 of the show is set to be released in July, and Way uploaded the poster featuring the cast wearing sunglasses, with the tagline ‘Same Weird Family. New Weird Problems’.
There are also a few easter eggs within the poster, as can be seen in the reflections in each of the pairs of glasses. We’ve been able to make out a newspaper headline that reads ‘War Declared’, a protest sign that says ‘Equality Now’, and an old portrait of The Umbrella Academy itself.
Let us know what else you can make out!
The series stars Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castaneda, Emmy Raver-Lampman Robert Sheehan, David Castañeda, Aidan Gallagher, Cameron Britton, Mary J. Blige, Colm Feore, Adam Godley, John Magaro, Ashley Madekwe, and Kate Walsh, with Season 2 set to launch on Netflix on July 31st.
Way recently revealed that he is working on the next volume of the graphic novels.”I am in the middle of scripting the long-awaited Volume 4 of the Umbrella Academy, which is my main focus and I’m very excited about that,” he said.
The news will have to tie MCR fans over for a bit, with no word yet when the band will reschedule their cancelled 2020 tour dates (which were set to include a set at Download Festival 2020 in Australia).
At least Gerard Way has promised that their reunion tour will be rescheduled as soon as possible.
