Christmas although wonderous and joyful, can prove to be a stressful time of the year for many. Amidst the presents, food and whimsical lights, madness can strike at any time.

Back in 2005, Fall Out Boy did their best to spread some seasonal cheer – or so they thought.

During the prime of MTV’s Punk’d, Fall Out Boy were the targets of an exceptional prank that involved the destruction of a Christmas village set up for charity.

Pete, Patrick , Andy and Joe were the supposed hosts of an event that delivered presents to some eager kids. They had one job – pull Santa’s leaver to ensure his train carriage stopped before it totally lost control. The ever-so-clever prank masters obviously made this impossible to do so, making it seem as though Pete missed his queue to stop Santa.

Presents were crushed, snow was thrown and a Christmas tree collapsed – we’ve never witnessed the band look this nervous and shook. It’s truly hysterical.

Fall Out Boy are notorious for delving into Christmas’ more gloomy side, releasing the seminal acoustic banger ‘Yule Shoot Your Eye Out’ back in 2002.

Pete Wentz recently spoke to Noisey about the meaning behind the track noting that it’s lyrics may have been just a little melodramatic.

“Maybe that was a bit overdramatic. I don’t think it was awful. I think monotonous would be a better word. I think when you are a punk rock kid in the suburbs, the holidays represent the biggest version of the monoculture.

How could you not take a shot at it? When we were recording From Under The Cork Tree we would make a band Christmas card that said ‘Christmas is Cancelled.’ What is more funny than saying that?”
