After six years as one of the most prominent, popular, and successful musical groups, South Korea’s BTS have revealed they’re about to embark on an “extended period of rest and relaxation”.

If you’ve even found yourself thinking of music at any time this decade, the chances are good that BTS have entered your mind.

In addition to being one of the hardest-working and most prolific music groups on the scene, BTS have managed to break records at every turn, including YouTube view records, worldwide chart achievements, and have even found themselves with a huge ten Guinness World Records.

However, after spending the last six years as one of the most popular groups in the world, BTS have revealed it’s time for them to take a break.

Taking to Twitter overnight, BTS’ management company BigHit Entertainment broke the news to fans, but assured them this would only be a temporary measure, done to ensure the group don’t find themselves completely burnt out from being such a global success.

“We would like to announce that for the first time since their debut, BTS will be going on an official and extended period of rest and relaxation,” BigHit Entertainment explained.

“This period of rest will be an opportunity for the members of BTS, who have relentless driven themselves towards their goal since their debut, to recharge and prepare to present themselves anew as musicians and creators.

“This will also provide them with a chance to enjoy the ordinary lives of young people in their 20s, albeit briefly. During this time, the members will rest and recharge in their own personal ways.

“BTS will return refreshed and recharged to return all the love you have and continue to show them.”

Noting that the final performance from BTS for the foreseeable future would be their appearance at the Lotte Duty Free Family Concert in Seoul on August 11th, BigHit also asked any fans who might find themselves in the presence of the group’s members to be considerate and allow them to enjoy their time off.

At this stage, it’s not clear when BTS will find themselves back together and working towards new shows and new music, but it’s clear that a well-deserved period of rest is definitely in order!
