Ahead of the release of her new album, Happier Than Ever, Billie Eilish has dropped a new single and music video, titled ‘Lost Cause’.
Oh, yeah, it’s all shaping up. July is right around the corner and so is Billie Eilish’s new album, Happier Than Ever. Ahead of the new release, the singer-songwriter is leaving no stone unturned in giving us previews. Billie Eilish just dropped her new single and music video, ‘Lost Cause’.
Eilish posted a cut of the music video on her Instagram, saying: “We had the time of our lives being hot & shooting this heeheeeeeehee🤗🤗🤗🤗 ENJOY!”
Seeped in neutral tones and simplistic outfits, the video shows Eilish living it up with a group of friends. The picture elucidates itself through the lyrics, which mourn the unraveling and the loss of a relationship due to neglect.
‘Thought you had your shit together, but damn I was wrong. You ain’t nothing but a lost cause, and this ain’t nothing like it once was,” sings Eilish, and it becomes clear that the party is probably celebrating her freedom from the relationship.
‘Lost Cause’ came as a surprise to Eilish’s fans: she made the release announcement yesterday on her Instagram, posting a BTS clip of the shoot and calling it ‘one of her favorites.’
The track is the second release in the run-up to Happier Than Ever. It’s predecessor, ‘Your Power’, saw Eilish singing about darker undertones, examining the power imbalance in an abusive relationship between a minor and an adult.
Eilish is also set to embark on a massive world tour in February next year in support of Happier Than Ever. Currently, the 50-date trek covers venues across America and Europe, with more dates expected.
