Just months after announcing they’d be taking some time off, it seems that BTS can’t wait to get back to the studio, announcing plans for a new album recently.
If you’ve even found yourself thinking of music at any time this decade, the chances are good that BTS have entered your mind.
In addition to being one of the hardest-working and most prolific music groups on the scene, BTS have managed to break records at every turn, including YouTube view records, worldwide chart achievements, and have even found themselves with a huge ten Guinness World Records.
Back in August though, the group revealed that after spending the last six years as one of the most popular musical outfits in the world, they would be taking some well-deserved time off.
Taking to Twitter, BTS’ management company BigHit Entertainment broke the news to fans, but assured them this would only be a temporary measure, done to ensure the group don’t find themselves completely burnt out from being such a global success.
“We would like to announce that for the first time since their debut, BTS will be going on an official and extended period of rest and relaxation,” BigHit Entertainment explained.
Noting it would provide them time to “recharge and prepare to present themselves anew as musicians and creators” and “enjoy the ordinary lives of young people in their 20s”, no word was given as to how long this break would be, leading some fans to assume that the next year or two might be lacking in their iconic sound.
As Variety reports, BTS recently appeared at the publication’s Hitmakers brunch, where they accepted the award for group of the year.
Thanking everyone at Variety fo their support, RM went on to express gratitude for the tireless world of their management team and their fan armies across the world. However, it was the end of RM’s speech that had fans talking the most.
“The great news is that we are currently working on our new music and new album and can’t wait to share them with you guys in the near future,” RM explained. “I hope you guys are so excited to discover what BTS has in store in 2020.”
While details are similarly scarce in regards to when we can expect new music from BTS, we can only begin to imagine how popular their eventual comeback will be in 2020.
