After giving us a sneak peek of her song ‘Happier Than Ever’, Billie Eilish has announced a new album by the same name.
While Billie Eilish already saved this year by announcing her new single ‘Happier Than Ever’, she has gone one step ahead and delivered us to the gates of heaven. Turns out, the single will kick off a new musical era for Eilish.
Eilish has just announced that her new album Happier Than Ever will be out on Friday, July 30th. In a short statement on Instagram introducing the release, she called the album her “favorite thing”.
“this is my favorite thing i’ve ever created and i am so excited and nervous and EAGER for you to hear it. i can’t even tell you. i’ve never felt so much love for a project than i do for this one. hope you feel what i feel.” she wrote.
News of the album comes only a day after Eilish teased her new single ‘Happier Than Ever’ in a 15-second clip on Instagram. In the clip, she can be heard singing the lyrics ‘when I’m away from you, I’m happier than ever,’ which fans will recognize as a callback to the moment Eilish and her brother were discussing music in her documentary Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry.
Earlier this year, Eilish also told Stephen Colbert that she’d completed a new album during lockdown. While she didn’t divulge any details at the time, she did admit that the lockdown may have had an effect on the album material.
“I don’t think I would’ve made the same album, or even the album at all, if it weren’t for Covid. That doesn’t mean it’s about Covid at all, it’s just that, when things are different in your life, you’re different. That’s just how it is.” she said.
Happier Than Ever will be the follow-up to Eilish’s acclaimed album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? At the 2020 Grammy Awards, Eilish and her brother and longtime-collaborator Finneas swept all the major categories, winning Record and Song of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Producer and Album of the Year.
