In dissapointing news, Billie Eilish has had to ask fans to stop groping her during meet & greets. The 17-year-old took to Instagram to detail an incident that took place at a recent meet and greet where a fan grabbed her boobs. In her account she detailed that she believes that it may have been an “accident” and that she didn’t address what had happened because she didn’t want to ruin the fans experience.
“Pls don’t grab my boobs in the meet & greet,” Eilish wrote. “I try very hard to make everyone happy at the m&g, but sometimes you make it very difficult for me to feel comfortable enough to do that.”
It is devastating that this had to be addressed. We’ve noticed that there is a growing trend of fans violating musicians personal space and bodies, it is imperative that this stops. You are never entitled to another person’s body, famous or not. It is disgusting and invasive.
Back in February, Panic! At The Disco frontman Brendon Urie pleaded with fans to stop kissing him during concerts. Over a Twitch stream, Urie asked fans to stop kissing him during the ‘Death of a Bachelor’ death walk, where Urie walks through the crowd.
“I went in for a hug and a girl kissed my neck,” he explained. “My sweaty gross neck. The neck kiss is so intimate, too… it’s like an extra ‘Fuck you!’ to me. You know what I mean? Please stop kissing me on the death walk. Please stop kissing me, please.”
In 2017, Urie and his wife Sarah were forced to move house after they experienced constant harassment from fans. Whilst the events were unfolding, Urie released the below statement:
“I only hope this sheds light on what inappropriate behaviour looks like. Boundaries are boundaries for a reason. Everyone has a right to feel safe and everyone has an obligation to be happy. So I’m taking my family somewhere that might make this a possibility.”
