Billie Eilish has yet another famous fan as Evanescence’s Amy Lee has revealed that the teenage star inspired her band’s new album.
It’s Eilish’s world and we’re all just living in it. Speaking about the writing process of Evanescence’s forthcoming album, The Bitter Truth, to Consequence of Sound, the band’s singer Lee effused over Eilish and her style.
“I really do love good pop — like good, dark pop,” she explained. “So, with Billie Eilish, even more than her style, which is very dark, what I really love about her is just her authenticity. She’s just being completely herself. I see a lot of things in her that remind me of myself, especially when I was younger.
I get inspired by all kinds of things, even if it’s just in the way that somebody arranged the songs. Like, ‘Oh, they didn’t end on the chorus. Why don’t we do something like that?'”
More expectantly, Lee also expressed her admiration for Bring Me The Horizon’s new album, saying “that’s my favourite rock album in a good while.”
Lee was a groundbreaker, one of the foremost women in rock at the beginning of the 21st century, so it’s not surprising that she recognises the talent and ambition of Eilish. And the ‘bad guy’ singer was only an infant when Evanescence’s iconic ‘Bring Me to Life’ came out in 2003 but we’ll bet it’s the type of dark banger that’s right up her street.
The Bitter Truth is Evanescence’s fifth studio album and it’s scheduled for release this Friday, March 26th. It’s their first original material in a decade, since their self-titled third studio album.
All of the band’s previous albums have cracked the U.S. Billboard 200 top 10 – including two number ones – and they’ll be confident of repeating the feat.
