It’s been a big year for Luke Hemmings – first, he got engaged to longtime love Sierra Deaton, and now he’s announced that he’s set to drop his very first solo album.
The 5SOS singer revealed the exciting news on Wednesday, where he debuted his solo single ‘Starting Line’ and announced that his solo debut album When Facing the Things We Turn Away From will be out August 13.
It’s a whole new side to Luke and his artistic sensibilities, with the 24-year-old explaining that his solo single touches on the singer’s wild life after catapulting to fame in 5 Seconds of Summer.
“‘Starting Line’ discusses missing various memories,” Luke said of the track.
“You’re reflecting on your youth and all of the madness and craziness. It’s like you’re forgetting so many pieces of your life—not from vices or anything—but from the sheer volume.
Luke continued: “I had to figure out how to fill a lot of gaps for myself in a positive way. It’s the human condition to change everything up after so long.”
It’s a double dose of happy news for fans of the Aussie rocker, as he only recently revealed to fans via social media that he had proposed to longtime girlfriend Sierra Deaton earlier this year.
The news came in an emotional post that featured a bunch of adorable photos of the pair during the special moment.
“With shaking hands but a full heart I proposed to my best friend earlier this year,” he wrote, alongside a series of sweet snaps.

According to PEOPLE, Hemmings popped the question in an intimate setting in Malibu, California back in February.
The super cute pair first began dating back in February 2018 and made their relationship Insta-official in August of that year.
